National Economic Impact Study In 1995, the American Horse Council commissioned Barents Group LLC to undertake a major study of the horse industry in the United States which would not only establish the current size of the industry but would also, for the first time, establish its impact on the national economy. Highly significant to anyone associated with the horse, the national report was released in December, 1996. Excerpts follow: |

Todays world of the Thoroughbred reaches to the four corners of the Earth, transcending geographical, political and racial boundaries. While the following statistics demonstrate the overall strength of horse racing and breeding in the United States in comparison with other countries, they only hint at the tremendous contribution made by the US to the Thoroughbred industries of other countries.
